A Guide for Newlyweds – A Smooth Move

Moving can be stressful, whether you are single, newlyweds or married for 20 years. Keep in mind that while it is frustrating, working together can make your move smooth. Be patient, and make a checklist to make things easier for the both of you. So we’ve created one as a guideline for you.

  1. Talk about Money

Make a plan together, what you will spend and what you will save. Budgets are important to ensure everyone stays happy and safe. Discuss joint accounts with each other.

  1. Household Chores

Whether either of you are neat or messy, it’s a good idea to decide who does what in the home and organise it between you. Who does the laundry? Who takes out the rubbish and who makes the bed each day?

  1. Where will you live?

Whether you’re living with relatives, or each have your own place, choosing where to live is a big decision. Will you rent a place together, build or buy your own home? Sit down and discuss your options.

  1. Don’t be afraid to Compromise

When living together, it’s sometimes difficult to come to a unanimous decision about things in the home. Talk to each other about small annoyances, and work together to make your first year of marriage a success!
